“King Kenny” is, as of 2014, Scotland’s most capped player of all time with 102 appearances. He also holds the record for goals scored for Scotland with 30 goals (held jointly with Denis Law).

Although he won many titles with Celtic including five Scottish First Division titles (1970-71, 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74 and 1976-77) and four Scottish Cups (1971–72, 1973–74, 1974–75 and 1976–77), it is with Liverpool that Dalglish won world recognition by winning seven Football League First Divisions titles (1978-79, 1979-80, 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84, 1985-86 and 1987-88) and three Champions Leagues (1977-78, 1980-81 and 1983-84).

These performances helped him to reach the second place of the Ballon d’Or 1983.

Perhaps the greatest striker in post-war British football, King Kenny is the first Briton to have scored more than 100 goals in both the Scottish and English championships.

Dalglish finished his national and international career with 381 goals in 925 games.
