Considered the best Spanish striker of all time, Raul is best known as captain of Real Madrid for whom he played for 16 years wearing the famous number 7 shirt.

With Madrid, he won six Liga (1994–95, 1996–97, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07 and 2007–08). He also won three Champions Leagues (1997–98, 1999–2000 and 2001–02) scoring in two finals.

Raul is the fourth highest goal scorer in the history of La Liga with 228 goals.

Raul is famous for scoring during vital moments for his team. Of his 44 international goals, Raul scored 32 during competitive games and 6 during the finals of major tournaments.

At the peak of his career he finished second in the Ballon d’Or 2001, beaten only by Michael Owen.
